As a boutique independent cinema, The Last Picture House offers audiences a refreshing experience miles away from the multiplex. Relax and enjoy a coffee, a bite, or a drink with friends in the cocktail lounge, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Arsenal Bridge and the Motor Row District. Take in the rare art collection, featuring posters from all around the world and one-of-a-kind movie props used on screen in your favorite films. Watch a movie beneath the stars on the rooftop screen with refreshments provided from the rooftop bar, all next to a sweeping view of the Mississippi River. Or grab a comfortable seat in one of the two state-of-the-art theaters, featuring incredible Dolby Atmos surround sound, laser and 35mm projection, and balcony seating that harkens back to classic movie palaces of yesteryear.

You may come here for the new BATMAN film. Or perhaps to see a career retrospective of François Truffaut. Drive past during the summer and you may find the roof packed with audiences dressed as Cher Horowitz for the outdoor screening of CLUELESS. Perhaps you’ve dreamed of seeing your favorite director or actor in person. Guess what? They’re presenting their film at The Last Picture House, and maybe they’ll answer your question tonight. Repeat this seven days a week, and you get the picture of, well, The Last Picture House. We showcase movies of all shapes and sizes: first-run, foreign, independent, classics, and cult.

About The Last Picture House

We have one rule: you must love movies. The Last Picture House was founded on the concept that the cinema-going experience is best when shared. When they’re not curating the vision for the cinema, co-founders and Iowa natives Scott Beck & Bryan Woods spend their days working as professional writers, directors, and producers, having created many Hollywood films such as A QUIET PLACE, 65, THE BOOGEYMAN, and A24’s HERETIC. Beck & Woods penchant for the big screen – in addition to visiting cinemas all around the world – led them to curate a movie-going experience that would encourage audiences to treat a night out at the movies as more than sitting in a darkened room. The Last Picture House offers a cultural and artistic space to encourage people to walk through the doors and engage with their friends, family, and community, all while celebrating a passion for film.
